Halloween over the years has become increasingly popular as an event for children. Here at Minster, we don't see any reason to celebrate Halloween, to concentrate on the dark things of life, because the Bible tells us that Jesus has victory over death, Satan and sin. We think that's something to celebrate!

During our Light Party there’ll be games, fun activities, sketches, songs and crafts. Your children can make something small to take home, to remind them that Jesus is the Light of the World so there is no need for fear.

Dressing up is a great part of the Light Party fun, though nothing scary please. This year's costume theme is superheroes, but anything colourful or light-themed (such as a star) would be brilliant. 

We look forward to seeing you at our Light Party - packed with laughter and fun because Jesus said that he has come to give us life, life to the full!

Halloween is a celebration that seems to become bigger each year. It’s a time to enjoy pumpkins, dress up, collect/give out treats with our neighbours. It seeks to make fun of things which are scary or evil, thereby making them harmless but often it seems like we just end up celebrating and enjoying things that are dark, rather than mocking it.

Here at Minster, we don’t see any reason to remember Halloween, or to celebrate the things we fear. Instead, we wish to remember that Jesus gives life over death, brings light to the world, and banishes our fear! We think that *that’s* something to celebrate! So, we have a light party to help primary school age children enjoy this together.

During our light party we play games, sing songs, tell jokes and create some wonderful crafts to take home! Put on your brilliantly brightest, crazily colourful, dazzling clothes (*prizes may be won), with nothing to frighten your pet hamster.

Instead, let this Light Party be an opportunity for children to have all the fun, without the darkness – to remember that Jesus has victory over this darkness and gives us life to the full!

This summer in The Old Library, you are warmly welcome to join the Teambuilders squad as we explore three Bible passages that highlight the nature of TEAM.

Children will encounter stories from both the Old and New Testaments that illustrate what it means to work together. These stories help the children to focus on the value of teamwork in life and, in particular, as a community of people journeying with Jesus. In addition, the children will meet Jesus and discover what he did for them and how they can become part of Jesus' team.

We aim to provide a safe environment for children to come and create lasting positive memories of Christian community. It will be a fun opportunity to encounter and potentially respond to God's plan of salvation, to Jesus and to the offer of eternal life.
